Gujarat: The Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, having a sharp personal attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, saying he was a “far better actor than Amitabh Bachchan, who does not need to wear contact lenses to weep” and he assured his government taking care if farmers loan waiver and nit like BJP government who isn’t worried about the issue.
A week to go for Gujarat Elections and campaigning entered a fever pitch. PM Modi and the Congress number 2 have been criss-crossing Gujarat at a hectic pace both focusing on the politically vital Saurashtra region.
On wednesday at a rally in Amreli Mr. Gandhi referred to to an emotional speech of the Prime Minister made days after the demonetization announcement and then the Prime Minister had “cried and announced on the television and media that if black money does not return before December 31 ‘you can hang Narendra Modi in public’… He acts better than Amitabh Bachchan,” Mr Gandhi said. The punch was at the Prime Minister’s recent emotional outreach, where he had called Gujarat his “mother”.
Saurashtra which form a large sections of farming community, and to allure them for voting he directed his whole speech towards them. Farmers there most of them are patidars are upset over the government because of the loss due to to what they say is very low minimum support price. And with the declaration of Hardik Patel’s support to congresss has raised the issue at almost every meeting.
Mr. Gandhi while touching in the issue of Minimum Support Price(MSP) said, “When UPA was in power, cotton price was Rs 1,200 and Narendra Modiji demanded Rs 2,000 from the then central government. Today, in his government, cotton prices have fallen to Rs 800… The situation for groundnut crop is the same”.
He told in a gathering at Visavadar that Mr Gandhi said. “They will let a farmer die but won’t raise the MSP. Come December, when we will form the government, we will do it within 10 days,” PM Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley claims it is not their duty to waive farmers loan.
