Political commentator and observer have been scratching all their head when they got to know that more than three-fourth of the ministers, in JDU-BJP led Bihar’s government, have criminal cases against them. A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) stated. Further, the report says that as many as 22 ministers out of 29 in the present government have criminal cases against them i.e. said 76% while it was 19 of total 28 ministers in the previous ‘grand alliance’ government i.e. 69%.
The report was prepared, by the Bihar Election Watch and ADR, after an analysis of the self- sworn affidavits of the 29 ministers including the Chief Minister.
Earlier, it was learnt that Nitish Kumar had tendered his resignation after surfacing the corruption charges against his deputy CM Tejaswani and within three hours, a new government has had taken a shape with support from BJP.
Classification of the cases:
- 09 – facing serious criminal cases against them.
- 02 – facing attempt to murder charges under section 307 of the IPC.
- 11 – facing cases of dacoity, theft, fraud and atrocities against them.
Educational Qualification as revealed:

- 18 – between graduates or have higher degrees.
There is only one woman minister in the new cabinet compared to two in the ‘grand alliance’
How many crorepatis in ‘new cabinet’:
Though it has come down marginally to 21 in JDU-BJP led government when compared to 22 in a grand alliance. The average assets of 29 ministers is Rs 2.46 crore, the report said.
IOI Comment: ‘Nation Wants To Know’ that “Will Nitish ask for the resignation of their ministers who are facing cases against them?”. We expect he will justify his own words ‘Call of my soul‘ after tendering his resignation over corruption charges on former CM Tejashwi.
