Check what happened after a man requested Sushma Swaraj to help his wife to get transferred

New Delhi : Union Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, known for her new brand of Twitter diplomacy, pulled up a man on Sunday for requesting his wife’s transfer from the Jhansi Railways to his hometown. In a series of tweets, Swaraj slammed the Pune-based IT professional Smit Raj for requesting an official transfer on a social media site.

Swaraj told the man that if he or his wife were in her ministry, she would have suspended them for asking such things.

The Pune-based man’s request followed a US man’s appeals to Swaraj who sought the minister’s help for his wife’s passport issues. On Sunday, the US citizen had posted a tweet saying:

For which she replied

Reading this reply, Smit Raj thought it’s appropriate to seek transfer of his wife who works in Railways, forgetting the fact that it’s illegal for seeking transfer of any government official unless there is legitimate requirements.

The Pune-based man’s request was not met with similar emotions. Swaraj even alerted the Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu. “I have received this tweet.”

Suresh Prabhu responded saying, “As per policy laid by me, I don’t look into transfers. Railway Board empowered for same. Asked Chairman, Railway Board to take suitable action as per rules.”

Twitterati flooded with emotional requests to end ‘banwas’

After reading the plea of Smit Raj, and followed by a action against his request, Twitterati flooded with request to accept this man’s plea to reunite the couple who are believed to be living separately since 3 years.
